Getting ready to retire and hopefully catching up on the many projects accumulated in my garage.
Currently have a '53 GMC 100 Deluxe Cab that I completed in 2010, a '55 International R132 that I'm getting ready to paint in July and complete by this time next year. Then it's off to my next project...my wife wants a '56 Bel Air.
We live in the Central Valley of CA but are looking to move out of CA. or wherever our grandchildren move. Currently South Carolina is on our daughter and son-in-laws radar.
We live on a lake, boat dock connected to our backyard, boat ******* and ready. A whole lot of bass fishing, fly fishing on the rivers for trout.
1-1/2 hours East to the snow, 1-1/2 hours West to the ocean...Love CA but HATE the taxes! Last one out of CA, turn off the light
I've been waiting for years for my father to give me the green light to clean out his garage. At 87, he finally asked me to help him clean it out.
His grandfather and uncle built the house/garage in 1924. They lived in it until they passed away in 1959. My parents moved in and didn't clean out a lot of the tools and materials. In fact my great grandfathers tool chest was still untouched. My dad didn't know what the stuff was for, so he just left it there....until now.
My great grandfather worked on cars in the back and my uncle was a building contractor. Sorting this all out has been a blast.
Out of respect, over the years, I never touched any of it. Now it's like a candy store. Each week I spend a day with my dad going through the stuff and give him a history lesson on the tools, parts and materials. Each time, something triggers a memory in his mind from when he visited his grandparents and aunt and uncle's house. What a trip down memory lane it's been.
Finding this forum is the result of researching some of the obscure things I have found. You people are so helpful....thank you
