Hello, this will be my new garage and home for awhile until I can build the house. Yes, the garage comes first...priorities.
The floors will have radiant heat and the whole building will be insulated.
I have been researching building practices here and will be using some of the advice that I have found on here. There will also be questions that I will be asking about waterproofing the outside, drainage, 2 post lifts and so on.

Oh and I forgot to add the pictures of the foundation digging.

Thanks,
Tom

Tom: do you have your permit and builder already figured out? since you are new member might i suggest if you start a new garage thread in Garage gallery to post lots of pictures and ask questions so you might get a better following. i'd love to follow all the garage builds and threads of guys and gals fixing or making something, but there are just too many.

good luck and welcome to our group.

Thanks everybody for the welcome.
Yes drivesitfar, I already have the permit and I'm comparing bids for the concrete foundation. I will get it poured as quick as their schedule will allow. Lots of building going on around here.
I'll be doing (with the help of family and friends) the framing, plumbing, heating, electrical, and so on. Everything will be inspected and signed off by the regional building people. I'm shooting to have it done in a year, I'm pretty lazy.

Tom: take plenty of pictures and if you do start a thread in garage gallery put the link to it in your sig line and post all the pictures and updates you can with your questions because there are thousands of threads in that section that are great, but don't get many posts.

good luck and i like to pour my cement a little thicker and maybe with rebar or mesh so there are not any cracks. PIA to have a crack in a new garage floor so get bids for 4, 5 and 6 inches thick and go with the thicker one. also don't just pick the cement guy on lowest bid. get references and you need to know he is dependable and good.
