Hello all!

In October we purchased an 80acre farm in glenville pa. This is the start of us moving rural, homesteading, preparing, and many more things. We bought the farm from the original owner who acquired the land in 1890. Now we are remodeling the 1905 farmhouse.

It has one large garage with 3 work shops attached. Currently it's somewhat functional but it will need some updating. (Roof leaks fixed, heat, insulation, power redone- some power is new and some is the old knob&tube, and a good cleaning- previous owner left a lot of stuff) in the 1930s this garage/workshop was an operational wood mill. (There are wood beams poured into the concrete in the floor)

Hope to get great advice and share my day to day goings ons here.

OS: sounds like a great place. sure i agree that maybe a few pictures of your barn or shop would be great on this thread. also if you want to document your daily efforts on the barn and also maybe ask a few questions and get some help might i mention that starting a thread in the garage gallery with a catchy name might be a better place.

put up lots of pictures and put in as much information as you can and keep updating and you'd be surprised how many members you might get to follow your journey.

welcome and best of luck with the project.

Welcome from another PA guy!
Sounds like an awesome place!

Texinteg mentioned New Freedom which sounds close by. I was a wedding in New Freedom this summer. I have relation living in Shrewsbury that got married there.

as requested, here are pictures of the workshop/garage this morning.
remodeling the house is priority so not much has been done in garage area. Many thing were left by the previous owner or as we were taking things out of the house, it went into the garage. (like the old kitchen cabeniets)

later I will start another thread about the garage as suggested.

Link to the farmhouse renovations. Linky

OS: great pictures. it does have that old schoolhouse or business look from the front. i do like all that old wood. thanks for the pictures. when you do start your thread in the garage gallery maybe put the link to that thread in your signature so you can get other members to follow your story when you are posting on other threads in the forum.

i wish i had 80 acres. what kind of animals are you going to have or just kids or and or a wife?
