Hi everybody, my name is Carl; and I'm coming to you "Live from Sparks, Nevada". Just joined the forum so a little background.
Woodworking and cabinetry have been live-long hobbies, and for the past 14 years historic sportscar racing. Over the years, 30+ years of Porsches, then went racing in 1999 with a Sunbeam Alpine, and the last 13 years with a Lotus 61 formula Ford. Seven championships with the Lotus so I wasn't just a grid filler. Alas, the new owner of "The Trusty Lotus" took possession of it just this morning, so the old woodshop hobby is being resurrected.
I have an 'interesting' garage. Two cars wide, but one side is two cars deep. To support my latest hobby of amateur (ham) radio, I walled-in the extension in the garage last year for my Radio Shack. Now my plans are to create a great "Radio Shack/Man Cave", as well as major improvements in the garage for woodworking.
First project will be a 33" X 8' ham desk. It'll be on rollers to facilitate getting to the backs of radio's, feature 20' linear feet of shelves to hold all the gear, built-in power buss' and ground buss, 110VAC power strips and 220VAC outlets to power amplifier's, etc.. Hopefully when completed something even Norm Abram's would be proud to have built. A lot of creature comforts planned for the shack, an electronics repair station, TV, stereo, computer, etc.
Looking forward to investigating the forum over the next few days, and gaining a lot of insight in building the dream garage/shop/shack....
