Can I use glue like Liquid Nails on FRP panels?

I know there is a glue made for it, but it was $20 for a gallon and I'm just putting up roughly 1 sheet, so a $3 tube or two of construction adhesive would be easier for me... plus I have a couple dozen tubes of the stuff.

Using FRP to trim out the interior of my garage door (where it bolts to the wall and the "header"

I think so. The outgassing of the fiberglass could be an issue.

I would try something like a polyurethane adhesive.

Ooo. Edit - You could try some 3M 5200. It is used in a marine environment as a bedding compound and is very effective on fiberglass. Just be aware that once it is on there, there is no getting it off without destroying the substrate it is attached to.

I did all my walls with FRP over plywood. Started using FRP glue and ran out of $$$. Put it all up with short drywall screws. Painted the heads white and never looked back!

Take a look at the thread "Restored 1930's Auto Shop" I used FRP throughout that project. I used liquid nails on the ceiling panels and screwed the edges. Walls were just screwed on. Used "tee" trim strips which cover the screw heads between panels.

Excell adhisive from Ace Hardware will work great and will adjust to the temp changes in a garage(expand/contract), if that's where its going. I use it for Store-Wall trim installs and have yet to have a piece delaminate or bow out from a wall.

Think is like 3-4 bucks a standard size caulk style tube. If you use it, put it on the back of the FRP let it set about 8 minuntes and then press it to the wall.

Liquid nails makes a tub surround adhesive in a caulking tube.I have used it in the past on FRP panels and had no problems.Be sure to follow the directions on the tube.
