I've been lurking on this forum for a while, getting all kinds of good, valuable information and ideas, and since I never had anything to add to the posts I was looking at, nor do I have the time to just sit and "chat" on forums, now that I actually have a need, I can't post a thread in the wanted section because I don't have 100 posts.

I have my grandfathers set of PLOMB combination wrenches that I have on display in my shop, but I am missing the 1/2" , 9/16 and 1" wrench.

I have been searching for replacements, but to no avail. My father (who is no longer with us) always referred to these wrenches as "PLUMB", so that's what I was looking for. Now that the garage journal has enlightend me of my misinformation, I wanted to post a thread in the "wanted" section for these 3 wrenches (and any larger than 1-1/16) in the "pebble" or "reverse detail" style.

How about posting a couple of pics of examples of the style you want?

Also, as a general tip, you should list your location in your profile. An approximate location often helps you get more appropriate feedback on some questions you may post.

Thanks for the help so far.
And yes, I'll do some work in my profile.
Look up Billy Triplett(drag car builder) in Roanoke. Tell him what you need. His old man may have it. He's pushing 90 now and is a big time hoarder. Not boxes. ACRES.
Tell him Diomedi sent you.

Just start a controversial post about engine oil, compressor lines, electrical wiring, plumbing codes etc. you will be able to reach 100 post in 1 hour :)

Welcome to the forum, hope you have luck in your search. You will not find a better source for anything you are looking for in the garage.

Like Simon mentioned, the 100 post count rule was put in place to safe guard you, me and our fellow members on GJ.

Circumventing the rules like you are doing in the second post will get nothing done except you thread locked and splitting up your posts like you are doing will get them deleted.

If you wanna play, play by the rules like everybody else does. Doing what you are doing is not fair to your fellow members that have followed the rules.

If you are that impatient that you can't wait till your 100 post count is reached, then become an Alliance Member. They are exempted from the minimum rule.

7. You must have a minimum post count of 100 to post threads in the classifieds. Alliance members can post no matter their post count.

There is only one problem...........if you notice, when you post more than once in the same thread, you still end up with the same amount of posts. So, to get to 100 posts, your posts have to be in different threads. This is why some guys go to the welcome thread and welcome people who just joined. They add up quickly that way. But, good luck. It is nice to hear from you.

Wow....what a way to welcome someone to the so called community guys. Personally, I don't see how anything Daddio has done is circumventing the rules. Even if it was, wouldn't we all have benefited more by encouraging his participation somehow instead of accusing him? He aknowledges frustration but otherwise appears to be making a legitimate effort to accomplish the 100 posts. Stretching out his explanation of what he's trying to accomplish may not be what a moderator has in mind....but it's a big jump from there to "doing what you are doing is not fair to the other members". Prior to this I've only had one post in the five years as a member. Like Daddio I have limited time and limited experience to contribute. What I don't lack is the desire to contribute. So I keep coming here and learning and watching for a place to get involved and help out. More to the point, I didn't know about the post count. I didn't know that replies within the same thread only count as one. So Daddio has, perhaps unknowingly, contributed to this member already...with his first posts. Thats a lot more than I can say of some of the other drivel on here. Welcome Daddio!!! Thanks for helping me out. Sounds like you and I are going to have to slog through some learning curves here. I hope you'll hang out long enough that we can get to know each other. If I can ever be of help....let me know.

The GJ is a community and if you abuse the community and do not work to the rules set you do not last long here.

As Eric (NutsGT) said the rules are in place for a reason and that is to protect our community here from those that do the wrong thing.

If you participate in what other post be it in the introductions or in the gallery then you soon get your post count up.
