I wanted to add a counterweight to my Delta 15" drill press table to make raising and lowering it easier. I liked the counterweight idea as it seemed the least obtrusive. So I bought this Rockwell Delta pulley bracket to make the conversion. But I then ran into a NOS production table with crank lift and and have no need for this.
Originally Delta make these for a head lifting pulley arrangement using a large long spring. But you needed to drill holes in your post to attach it. I planned on using it for a counter weight add-on that would not require any post modifications as gravity holds it in place. See sketch below of the concept.
It is designed to fit a 2.45" internal diameter post, but you could file it to fit a slightly smaller diameter.
