I got this Snap On chess set and although it is really cool, I have realized that with a 6 yr old and a 3 yr old it is just not practical to have. When they first saw it, their eyes lit up and I could just imagine the pieces being lost, thrown and however else little kids tend to thrash things (now I know how my parents felt). It is just a waste to have this thing sitting in a closet so I figured I'd start here and see if anyone is interested in it.

I heard that these are awarded to some dealers and are very rare. It is a beautiful set & is made by a company named Drueke (http://www.carrom.com/index.php/Site-Content/drueke). The chess pieces are made out of extensions and sockets and are chrome and gold plated. They also have Snap On part numbers on the pieces just like their sockets and extensions. They are stored in a miniature top box that is made out of metal (trim is plastic). The board itself is made of hardwood and looks very well made. This set is brand new, never been used. The chess pieces themselves have no pitting, staining or anything else. The board is still in it's original box. Take a look at the pictures below and let me know if you have any questions. Don't have $5 to spend on frills, let alone $500, but if I did...........

That's a beautiful set. And I DO play chess.

Good luck with the sale.

Wow that is only the second one of those I have ever seen. I saw one go on ebay last year for $1400 and it wasn't in new condition like yours!

You know, it is what it is. Somethig is only worth what some is willing to pay for it. I'm happy with the sale and I'm glad that it is going to someone that will appreciate it, which, unfortunately I can't, as it is just sitting in a closet hidden away from my kids (which eventually they will most likely find it, as they can find anything) and I'm the only one in the household that knows how to play chess. Hopefully the new owner will be able to enjoy this set as it is meant to as it is a really cool.

I can tell you we will be using and enjoying this set. Me and both of my sons play, and since my youngest is now 16 y.o. there are no worries of things disappearing (except maybe the car keys!)

Hopefully the freight gods will smile on us, and we can get this safely across the country.

BTW, does this count as my first snappy tool chest?

Here in metrowest, trying to find a place to put the latest foot of snow that arrived last night. Finally, winters like we used to have when I was a kid!

Does metrowest mean Boston? I'm far away from that, so I don't know the lingo.

I would take all the heavy pieces, wrap them in newsprint and use a USPS flat rate box and send the board and box separately.

Medfield area actually (another sleeper town no one has heard of)

Thanks Glenmore - good idea. Separate boxes should be easier to pack, too.

i've never understood the whole price disappearing thing after an item is sold...sometimes its nice to have a reference as to what something sold for in the past...

1. All items for sale must be listed. All ads must have prices. Ads without prices will be deleted.

Same here, why does the price become a closely guarded secret the moment something sells? I always leave my prices up for others to reference in the future.

I wish this was mentioned in the posting rules as a suggestion. This practice has frustrated me many times in the past.

Anyway, grats on the sale/purchase. That's an amazing set!
