With Christmas coming up, I need some ideas to give to the kids and wife. Doing some grinding the other day, I realized I don't have a full face shield.

I know my wife would go and buy a Craftsman one. Any good ? What's better dor a DIYer, without breaking the bank ?

I use the one from Jackson safety. The headgear is like, 15 bucks and the replacement shields are only like 7 bucks. Seems to work as expected.

Sellstrom 39110 faceshield is on my radar. i'd really like one with a metal frame with some nice cushioning instead of plastic, but probably the only way i'll find one is from a 90 year old's shop. anybody know of a source for a little higher end full face shield?

i know they sell reader type safety glasses they wouldn't be great safety for grinder work.

The 3 that were linked to are all UVEX full face shields. I have one and use it whenever I need a face shield. Used to use it when I was doing undercoating. Works great, love the ergonomics of it. Doesn't block your site. Very sturdy. Shield is easy to replace and they run about $8 at grainger for replacement shields. I payed $80 at grainger.

The Harbor Freight 46526 is really a very good face shield. Sturdy, comfy, and clear. I'm on my second after getting the first a little too close to the torch. $12.00 with a 20% coupon. I can't compare to the Uvex because I don't have one.

I have the 3M one and love it. That being said I haven't used anything else but a super cheap HF. My local Lowes 2 miles away carries them and some replacement lenses.

Get the 3M. I work on ships through a subcontracting company. And all the welders and grinders there use 3M. Its a face shield. It's meant to protect your face, don't need the full round the head shield that will fog up during heavy breathing.
