I had several different smaller boxes and sold them off and purchased a hf44. Its going to be a catch all of non mechanics type tools. I have a matco 57 that is mostly mechanic tools. All of my sockets are in the matco. Not sure what I should put in the hf top drawer. Its deep and don't want to waste it. Screwdrivers? All my snips and cutters? I have enough vise grips and pliers to fill it up too.
I need a therapist.

pliers, screwdrivers, cutters/snips, vice grips.... these are all mechanics tools and should go in your mechanics box.

As for the HF box, put long items in the top drawer. Items such as long demo/pry bars or long hammers. You could also put many smaller power tools in there like dremel or nail guns without the cases.

That seems too easy. Did you go with flat aluminum or angle?

One member that made a version of that used the aluminum yard sticks I believe. Cheaper that plain stock.

Bulky items, power tools, things in cases, hammers on edge? It's a bit of a waste of the depth and thus volume to use only the bottom ~1/3 for screwdriver or the like IMHO. But your box, your tools, your choice.

Always wanted another full length but now seem have no use for it. Wish it was shallow. Was going to put all my smaller electric tools in the bottom 2 drawers. I might make some dividers and paint them up and split it inot 2 or 3 sections

Catch all is right. My whole 44" box is a catch all. Here's my top drawer.

Figured someone would say waste of space and it is but this works really well for me and I love it for now. I replace a work bench that had two cluttered drawers which all went into this drawer. I got all my tools and junk layed out nice in one box now vs the cluttered bench and jam packed craftsman box. Trust me if I had it my way my random junk would be in a bin'ed out Lista. I hate fishing around for stuff and this keeps it in order. Did the same for my random auto tools that did not come in cases. You all may not believe it but I gained room putting all the junk in boxes. Now I can stack stuff that goes together. Here is a pic of my auto drawer. Like it or not, I don't have to move stuff to get to stuff now!
