Does anyone have any opinions about Fuller branded pipe wrenches? I’m cleaning out my in laws barn and shop and found a complete set from 8” or 10” through 18” in the workbench. They looked and felt ok, but definitely wasn’t a Rigid. Any history or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure how universal this is, but the Fuller tools I have are all Made In Japan. Not bad quality at all. At least not the ones I have. I suspect that their pipe wrenches are probably decent.

I spent 5 years of my life in the oilfield. Rigid handles can be bent into some pretty amazing shapes I’ve learned.

Ridgid cast iron wrenches are made from ductile iron spwcifically so they’ll bend instead of breaking.
There are even pictures of the cast iron handle twisted into corkscrew shapes to show how unbreakable the wrenches are.
The aluminum wrenches are a different story.

The fuller pipe wrenches were probably made by one of the still extant Japanese tool brands, like HIT or TOP. I forget which.

Are those decent companies in regards to quality etc?

Are you thinking of selling them? Is that why you're asking for opinions about their quality? Since you've worked with pipe wrenches professionally, you're handling the Fullers in question yourself and have already assessed them as "ok", and you've received two "decent" votes, I'm guessing you're trying to assess a value. Is that your aim?

We had a lot of HIT machine tool wrenches. While they were your basic machine style wrench, no chrome or polish or whatnot, they were plenty strong and fit fasteners well for their intended purpose.

Here is a Fuller alongside a postwar Ridgid. It looks like Fuller tried to copy Ridgid as much as possible. It seemed decent so I didn’t throw it in the garbage like I would have if it had been made in Taiwan or China. If I needed to use just one I would grab the Ridgid first but sometimes two are necessary.

No. I get first right if refusal in the shop and I need to know what’s worth packing and what’s better to leave behind. Because my nature and instinct is to take it all with me and hoard it in my garage lol.

If I remember correctly Fuller Tools were offered by: Wait for it!
The Fuller Brush Company. Tools were sourced from wherever and name stamped on them. I've had some Fuller tools fall into my hands over the years, and they seem to be pretty good quality. YMMV. Cheers,
