Hey,
I have some fuller tools that my dad had. They are made in Japan but look and feel like great tools.

What are your opinions on the old fuller brand?

I have a pair of Fuller linesmans, they are a hefty, solid pair of pliers IMHO. I think I have a Fuller chisle or two as well, not sure if that is the same Fuller though. :dunno:

I have a set of Fuller metric wrenches that I used to use all the time. They're a little shorter than I like, but they have a nice finish and they held up to several years of use/abuse.

The items Fuller sourced from Japan in the 1970s was of quite decent quality. KTC supplied the wrenches and I also have a pair of high quality linesman pliers...

The line is garbage now.

I bought a Fuller 1/2" combination wrench in the early 1970's to grind into a tappet wrench (thinning the open end), and later ground the box end VERY thin to use in an application that had very little clearance around the nut. At various times I have abused this wrench and it has never failed! It is a tough one.

I have a 90pc socket set that I bought at Walmart 7-8 years ago, and it currently rides in my truck/is usually the set I pull out when I'm wrenching. Tough as hell and has been abused, rode hard and put away filthy, clean it out once a year or so and still pretty much mint to this day. Since it was my first set I religiously hung off the 1/2" & 3/8" with 2-3ft of snipe and they've never let me down, now I have breaker bars so no need for that.

Dad bought two pair of Fuller groove joint pliers somewhere around 1970. One 12" and one 10". When I left home at age 18 (1974), he fixed up a small set of tools for me from his stash. He included the 10" pair. Dad passed away in 2011. When I was cleaning out his shed, I found the 12" pair with the jaw teeth worn nearly smooth. I continued to use the 10" pair at work and home. I lost them somewhere around 2014 during an outage at work. At the time he bought them, they were pretty damn good tools.

I have a few Fuller tools I got from my father. I've always thought of them as middle-of-the-road quality--not great, not terrible.

I've wondered if they were sold by the Fuller Brush men....

I have a Fuller 10"? adjustable wrench from ~1990. It's nicely made and seems as good as my Western Forge adjustables.

I have a Fuller 4 1/2” bench vise made in Japan. I purchased it from Walmart back in 1984. I have used and abused that thing for the last 40 years and it is still going strong.

I have a set of Fuller wood chisels that I have beat on and abused terribly. I believe I have some pliers too. In the 70's and early 80's, Fuller tools were ubiquitous, and I am surprised I don't have a lot more of their offerings, but, even back then, I was really trying to start my tool collection with North American products.

FULLER at International Tool Catalog Library

(It's Fuller TOOL - Fuller BRUSH Company was a different outfit.)

I don't think I've sent any of the documents posted below to Mark yet... not sure.

Product was imported from Japan, England, Portugal, and other points. Great quality for the money.

There was also a FULLER of Canada that manufactured a bench vise, among other things.

Fuller / Fuller Tool Co., Inc., 3522 Webster Ave., New York, NY / est. 1937 / see also Kyoto / "Blue Ox" screwdriver / http://alloy-artifacts.org/fuller-tool-company.html / https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/fuller-tools.221469/ /

Fuller / Fuller Tool Co. Ltd., 875 Pelletier St., Iberville, Quebec, Canada /

@LesserSon -

After looking at these pages again, I have to wonder if perhaps their "Made in England" pliers were marked "SHEFFIELD" and what sort of handle patterns they might have sported?

I have a few Fuller screwdrivers I bought about 10 years ago. They seem to wear well and I always liked them because the handles are a bit larger then most others. I assumed they were made in Canada when I bought them but they could have just meant Fuller Canada.
I also have a pair of Fuller needle nose pliers from Maruto. The plastic on the handles is missing though.

As a kid in the late 60's my uncle bought me some fuller open end wrenches from central hardware.
