My boys are in cub scouts and it’s derby season.

Someone last year took the derby track to the county fair as a recruiting opportunity and didn’t tie it down dumping the start gate section it on the road and screwing it up.

Something right out of “It’s not that she can’t drive”

So it fell to me to fix the track. Well I guess they have always had alignment issues and it’s no surprise as sections were 1/8” longer than others.

The curved part was the worst. Held together with large binder clips in the middle. I made two angle aluminum bracket and when it straightened it out it really accentuated the length difference of each lane.

How to fix?

I need an easy button. Fits together tighter than a bloodstained glove. Is it to soon?

Track saws are a wonderful tool.

How do you like the Dewalt?
I like it it more than festool saw that I have used.

I really like the double sided track that you can go both ways on and the way it arcs down into the cut with parallelogram linkage.

I haven’t tried the Milwaukee or makita track saws.

How do you like the handle angle and plunge style? I "need" to move to a cordless and already have a ton of yellow batteries, so I'd rather not add makita into the fray

The plunge style is what I like the most about it.

I guess the handle angle is ok as I have never given a thought about it until know. It’s comfortable.

The kick back cams are nice most of the time but if you want to back up you have to lift it off the track.

Their also is a plethora of aftermarket accessories that are produced for the festool track and by extension the makit and unfortunately not for the dewalt.

If I could do it over I would still buy the saw but would purchase festool tracks simply due to the available aftermarket accessories

Not to hijack you're thread, but the DW battery TS was a game changer. I mostly cut outside so no dust collection and no cable, true portability. Even inside with dust collection still like the no cord. I had a corded one first and sold as soon as the battery version came out. As firebrick said the double sided track is a nice feature. One side for 90deg cuts and one for 45deg.

I didn't know the Dewalt fit in the festool/makita tracks.

Thanks for the feedback... Might need to pull the trigger
