So take the way that Stahlwille 14, Elora 205, Carl Walter l.p. and Gedore 1b are offset on the box end vs say Snap On or Hazet 600... Is that a distinctive German design as dictated by some DIN standard or can I get that elsewere?

Reason being... I own Snap On and Stahlwille for my metrics and find both offset styles useful for different applications. However, the majority of the vehicals I service are still SAE. I have Hazet 600na (conventional snap on style offset) for my SAE set and would like to add a set to compliment it. Wondering what my options are.

The 1952m design(or PU) is metric and sae! Sandvik belzer,Sandvik Bahco, regular bahco and Belzer! The best of them is older sandvik belzer or just belzer germany! But newer bahco 1952m or 1952z(sae)isnt bad either! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1434792388.322129.jpg

Sandvik belzer is little longer than newer bahco! Think belzer is that to! Anyway belzer and sandvik belzer germany is sick quality and like half the material thickness compare to stahlwille in both open end and box end! Same with bahco, but the durability isnt like belzer, sandvik belzer, and regular belzer. The ones Without coo is made in argentina and are great to, a little more material on them, but not bad! Newer belzer is exactly the same as bahco so try to find the older series!

I have a complete set of Gedores from 1/4" to 2", offset isvery useful in hydraulic applications and when working around other fasteners. Quality seems to be very good, not as nice as Stahlwille, but still feel nice to use.

I think I would get the Gedore 1b as well, I don't have any of that style but do have a few DOE and DBE and they are quality.

Unfortunately the Stahlwille 14 is not available in SAE and the 13a does not have that offset. Hazet also doesn't make the 603 in SAE sizes.

Yeah, it's tough shopping for sae tools outside USA made.

Carl Walter also doesn't do SAE in that offset. Same for Heyco. Matador looks just like Elora, but Elora is easy to get in the US. Gedore also doesn't look too difficult to obtain here.

Is there any other brand or option that you can het/sell Jens?

While I enjoy my tool collection, I have way too many hobbys to go searching for that awsomeness you speak of. I can't even find discontinued Stahlwille 14a, no way I'm finding those.

However, I can be content with the new Bahco stuff. Any suggestions on where to buy?

Yes that ofcourse:) I want a set belzer 1952m germany and has trouble to find it:( Bahco 1952Z sae its very common here in sweden and every contractor in town use them! Personally I use them very often on my work in(heavy industri) and they do the job! Very slimmed wrenches and good finish! The durability is better on old belzer but I dont know anyone who has break or wear them out! To use on your cars they should work very well! Just search on ebay or something like that!

*** on a stick, bahco!

Regarding the 'funky' offset: I'd like to know from people who own both styles which one they like best/comes in more useful often?

Which one is the thinner one in the last photo? The thinner one would come in handy for tight spots. :) Thanks for sharing!

Its the 1952m! I dont think they exist any thinner regular combo wrenches than 1952m series today! The open end is extremely thin, same with the box end! Old bahco pu stockholm and pu sweden are playing in the same league thou! Stahlwille openbox 13 is near the material thickness

I got my first 1952 this week, a Sandvik Belzer and its an 1 1/4", was very cheap on ebay, I was the only bidder, its used but in good shape. The box end is very thin, compared to my old English Britool RJ of the same size but it is about 1/2 shorter. I will definitely be looking for more of them.

Hi,

I know I am resurrecting an old post, but this seemed like the most appropriate place.

I just purchased (online, new) my first Bahco 1952Z (3/4"), and was surprised by the finish. It matches those in the image decaf posted above (polished chrome), however the other Bahco ranges I have are very different - they are similar to the image from Bahco below:

14d29c78ad853a3f.png

though it's actually only the 111M sizes below 25mm which have the 'U' in the handle area as far as I can tell.

I'm buying them piece-meal as I see a good deal and have:
5 x 111M (metric combination)
2 x 1952M (metric offset combination)
1 x 111Z (imperial combination)
These all match the style of the 111M image above - matt chrome.

Does anyone know the full details on what Bahco spanners have what style, and does it depend on COO?

None of those I have include a stamped COO, however the 1952Z I just purchased does have a bar-code sticker which says "Made in Argentina".

One thing that does worry me is that the markings are very faint, for instance in the image by decaf you can see 'HA', and on mine the central vertical line of the 'H' is pretty much non-existent - is this normal? I'm unsure whether to send it back.

Thanks for any advice.
