I use waste oil, diesel, gasoline, solvent, and other liquids to start brush piles on fire. I have always wanted a better way to pour these into milk jugs, gallon oil or antifreeze jugs, and 5 gallon pails. I tried using a wooden stand to hold a funnel, but it did not work well. I took my lessons from that build and made this one from some materials I had on hand.
The legs are made from 1/2" black iron pipe. One 40" piece is bent 90 degrees in the middle and a 14" leg welded at the bend. I used a 1-1/4" spacer to raise the joint above the contact points at the tips of the legs. I welded a piece of 1-1/4" square tube on top of the joint to hold the vertical 1" square tube. I cut a 6" piece of the 1-1/4" square tube and welded supports for the 1/4" round bar circles that hold the funnel. Both of the pieces of 1-1/4" tube are .063 wall and have 3/8" NC square nuts welded to them for lock screws. The movable piece has a T-bolt made from round bar and All-Thread, while I used a 1" long bolt for the lower socket.
The lower support ring is welded to a piece of 1" square tube that is trimmed and welded to a 45 degree angle on that end. The upper support ring is welded to a piece of 2x2x1/8 angle iron. The lower ring was formed on a Harbor Freight Compact Bender and the large ring was formed around a large piece of round scrap I had lying around. Both were bent cold.
I used some foam backer rod to fill the ends of the base pipe, and bought plastic caps for the 1" square tube. I filled the open ends to keep out insects.
I found a perfect dust cover in my stuff - a late 60's Ford pickup hub cap. It fits the funnels quite nicely. The first funnels came from Amazon, but when I went to reorder, the price had almost doubled! I made a few of these for some friends. The only new materials are the funnels, the plastic caps, three feet of 1" square tubing, and 54" of 1/2" black pipe. Everything else is either salvaged or drop from other projects.
