Funnel Storage

Does anyone have any good/interesting ways in which to store their various funnels?

Here is how I store the funnel I use for oil changes.

Note the outlined area in black that denotes where the oil drain will be when the door is closed.

The drain bottle is removable and can be cleaned (pic was taken just after a cleaning).

Advantages to this design include keeping the funnel clean from contamination that would otherwise just get drained into the engine, a simple, out-of-sight storage place that is easy to access, and no drips.

That's a pretty cool setup. I usually just wrap a rag around the bottom and stand it up somewhere. Give it a good wipe down after a little bit.

That's a pretty cool funnel storage idea.

I just give the funnel a good rinsing, then stand it up in a drain pan.

drill some holes along the side of a 1 1/2" piece of pvc pipe and hang it on the wall with some pvc "c" clamps. drop the funnel ends in to that. at the end put an elbow on it facing down, and hang a bucket under it. All fluids will drip/drain into the bucket. You can custom cut the whole sizes for each funnel and just put an "L" shaped screw above the pipe at the desired height and hang the funnel on it.

Use disposable funnels. Use them then throw them away.

I let my kids wear them as hats. The hair kinda acts like a mop to clean out the funnels.

Actually, just inside a plastic tote. Right next to the million other totes I have.

Roadster had it right "obsessive compulsive". I'm kinda the same but not really that particular with my funnel. I let it drain into my recycling oil. Then I clean it when I need it again. But everything does have it's place.

Yup... that would be me. Oh, and I have been know to use the disposable funnels too.

I had some pictures but can't find them. I just took a small bucket, dumped in some kitty litter. Then took some round bar and chopped it up and made a screen out of it. Then I just drop my funnels in and the kitty liter soaks up whatever. If I had to do it again I would just use some aluminum screen over the kitty litter.

Boost, did you purchase that setup or build it yourself? I would bet that there could be other household type uses for something like that.

But to answer the original question, the ones that I use frequently end up nested within each other hanging on a pegboard hook. While the lesser used funnels end up in a bucket.

Stupid question but.... In regards to the "funnel holder" picture. What, if any, kind of tube/plastic is in the spring? Is there a tube running from the bottom of the "base funnel" through the spring, into the bottle? (Just curious.)

The spring encircles a tubular plastic collar that allows oil to drip into the storage bottle. It's a cool design.

It was this piece of the hardware that persuaded me to buy the holder, rather than just fab it up myself- I couldn't find what was clearly a proprietary part elsewhere.

You can get them from Cal Car Cover.

The storage bottle can be substituted with any common bottle, including plastic oil cans, and even most plastic soda bottles (which share the same thread at the top).

I like this, although it seems like overkill for my 2 funnels...

Too much is never enough!

Seriously, I enjoy the garage, and enjoy a well-designed solution. Is it overkill? Well, in the sense that it isn't necessary, sure. You could just dump them in a bucket and wipe them off occasionally.

But if we only did the necessary things in life, who would want to live that life?

I never really thought about coming up with something better but the more I look at that thing the better of an idea it really is, mayne not quite like that but a better system. I usually rinse them in the parts washer and wipe out.
I looked back and a good point was made, for 2 funnels you could certainly come up with something neat. My problem is I have thousands of items so when I come up with something like that it has to work for a dozen.

I just stick my long funnel down into an empty 1 gal. jug and let it drain. I do like the PCV setup though.

My only question with the PVC setup (which I love the idea of) is what keeps **** from landing in the funnel when welding/grinding/spraying etc.?
