I was HF this afternoon picking up a couple things of limited consiquesnce. I am an inside track member.
An hour or so after I left, I got an email from them with a digital copy of my reciept attached.

This was a first. Someyjing new I guess. Better than saving the paper ones

Did they actually update their system? I swear they had the most antiquated POS system in use in the world.

Yes, they've been rolling out new POS for some time.

Lucky me, I went into my local store the first morning they went live. Training must not have been too good. I ended up walking out as the cashier was stuck trying to figure out a transaction ahead of me.

It's better now - that was over a month ago.

Sears does that now, too. E-mails a copy of every receipt.

So does my barber shop if I use a CC. Not a new thing, just new for HF. Has to do with which POS system any business uses now adays. Most of the new POS system can do it, even for small businesses.

It's just a major cost to upgrade old POS systems for BIG companies.

And now CitiBank does too. I wish they all would. Do you know how many Home Depot receipts I have that are usually faded by the time I need them for something!:willy_nil

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I made it a habit years ago to make a copy of every receipt and staple it to the receipt and put in my tool purchases folder that sits in my home office. Learned the hard way tears ago when I went to do my taxes and receipts were faded and not legible.

****'s Sporting Goods does it too now upon request (they ask you if you want paper or email) - I think it's a great idea.

I could take everything I ever bought from them and wipe in to the dumpster and start over, by the end of the year would have doubled my money,,, only reason I dont shop more there and spend all I can with them is there becomes a limit, one can only use so much stuff.

As I recall,, we have heard of a few glitches they seemed to take care of, so much for any store, product or vendor today but by real experience,,, only bought what I needed though,,, but,,, one bad socket set of metric deep wells we got hooked on as did a lot of others but the ones that didnt work we obviously need and scored off the shelf, about 20$ shot in the *** on half of which we dont use anyway, lost one of the 2 or 3 we do use before it broke.

The last job I did I can recall where I had a would have been easier moment and didnt have the right tool I found out we had lost a 13 x 3/8 swivel, it may have been gone a while and as it worked out Cman was not out of my way but 5 minutes, they had it on the shelf for 10, used it on install.

As for convenience, would not got better unless the tool truck was standing there with it in his hand for less than 20 and that aint gonna happen, its gonna be when he is comming to collect next week and its gonna be 40.

I would like to see a flat rate genius do the math for me here, 15 minutes easy work, get what I want instant and pocket 30 in juice before taxes.

I've bought a couple bigger purchases there, the 2 ton engine hoist, larger jack, etc. But I agree all the small stuff, not worth my time, lifetime warranty or not.

Just a sidetrack....I use "NEAT RECEIPTS" for my business and personal. 100% recommend it. You'd still have to locate the receipt for return/warranty, but this is a great way to do taxes and review your purchases. Here's a link...http://www.neat.com/products/neatreceipts

I use NEAT also. Almost any receipt you get today, if you shove it into a drawer for later, when you go to use it, the ink has already faded. Any time I buy something that has a warranty, it goes through NEAT first. And I'm glad that a lot of places now recognize that a photocopied receipt is as good as the original. Even at tax time the Government will accept photocopied receipts.

I bought our NEAT last year and love it. Not only is it for receipts, but you can use it to scan and save documents in a 1/10th of the time it takes to run a document through a flatbed scanner.

I have an old Neat receipts (Windows) and the issue I had/have with it is if you do get mailed a PDF there is no way to enter it into the system without printing and scanning it back in. Pain in the **** to say the least. I asked in their forum if they were going to correct that and the answer seemed to be 'no'. Most everything I care to save is available online as a PDF - only occasionally do I need to deal with a paper receipt these days.

Sears has had this for a few years now:thumbup: I used it on a refrigerator and a few other electronics items. Beats the hell out of having files stuffed with receipts. When the fridge burned up 6 months into owning it all we did was go to the store and pull up the slip on the ol lady's smart phone.
