I've been using Fusion 360 now for about a year and have been pretty happy with it. It is free to use for hobbyists. For a subscription it is $40 per month or $300 per year. I just received notice that on Amazon Prime Day on July 12 they will offer a one year subscription for $25. Not a bad deal. Does anyone know what extra features are unlocked if you pay for a subscription? I've been looking around on their website but I can't seem to find the benefits of having a paid subscription.

Thank you.

Just curious as someone who who works with Acad and Inventor every day what is the benefit/draw to fusion other than the price?

I believe fusion is CAD and CAM in one software piece...

I also think I read that it was full featured and without restrictions for use until you made over $100k in your business in one year. Then you're supposed to start paying for it.

I've played with it and it seems like a nice program. Draftsight seemed easier to figure out for me at least for what I'm using it for and it's free too.

I use Inventor daily but having not used Fusion, I couldn't tell ya for sure.

Is fusion capable of making assemblies? For some reason, I want to say that's the big difference.

Inventor has an HSM add-on. 3 axis milling is included. 4+ axis and turning are extra.

Fusion 360 incorporates HSM-like cam- the cam portion that allows creation of g-code from within the cad application itself. Pretty cool and if you can get it for $25, I'd go for it especially if you have need for the CAM functionality and don't have Inventor and HSM.

Fusion is more or less limited to 2.5D cam though.

Another selling point of Fusion 360 is that it is a cloud-based platform which impacts the data management side of things and is especially beneficial for projects which require team collaboration. Similar to 360 (at least in regard to the cloud element) is Onshape.

I am a SolidWorks user myself but have been eyeing Fusion 360 or Onshape for a home setup. Usually at the end of a work day the last thing I want to do is spend even more time at work for personal projects. :Twitch:

Thanks for get heads up. I will definitely have to upgrade for $25. Full 3d milling will make it worth it.

Fusion has full 3d capability. Was not included in the free version. It appears that it is now.
