Doesnt OTC or someone make like a hub tamer or hub grappler kit that allows the front wheel bearings to be pressed in and out without removal of the front spindle? How does the OtC version compare to the HF one?

I've heard that the OTC forcing screw is better.
My HF only cost me $60 though, did all 4 corners of my Subaru and is still good as new. I did however liberally oil the screw.

Otc makes a really sweet hydraulic one of those. Damn pricey though.

Its a shop tool regardless. Not really worthwhile for a tech to buy unless you do a shitload of wheel bearings.

I have the hub grappler. Great time saver. Don't have the hydralic adapter yet, but I'm sure I'll eventually get it lol.

I know otc makes the hub grappled and sir makes the b90 kit and ken tool makes the hub shark all will be around 500+ for kit thou and I do know hazet makes several kits that pieced together do the same but very expensive thru them.

I personally like the hub shark over the otc but the otc is more versatile and I have not had experience with the sir kit

Im thinking maybe just snagging the HF unit.

Im a full time tech, the shop might as well have zero shop supplied tools. We have a press but its all bent up and a total POS, so anything that requires pressing we have to take to another shop and do it, adds alot of time when I am a flat rate tech. Heres what brought this whole topic up. Did a side job today, CV axle, noticed mid-job the wheel bearings were toast, had to drop the spindle with limited tools and take it to a willing shop for them to press in/out(cant take any of my side work stuff to any of my stores). Ended up spending half the day fighting with it.

I have had a Hub Shark for years and bought the update kit a couple year ago and it makes things go smooth and quick.

I've sold a few of these kits. The case is pretty weak and will crack if you drop it but I haven't seen any of them warrantied for anything else.

I've used the hell out of the Harbor Freight set with no problems other than upgrading the forcing screw to the OTC part.

Works great.:rocker:

High pressure lubes, cam prelube for example, will keep pressure screws working better. The steel on those threads seems to peel or gall under the high torque applied. I've been using X-357 and have not bought any pressure screws since.

In my opinion the Hub shark kit is the absolute best quality and can be had for under $358. Made in USA

The HF kit is very basic. By the time you buy the individual pieces to match the larger kits you have spent the same ammount.
I happen to have the original Hub Shark by Old Forge (now by Ken-Tool) and I like it although I still need to get the update kit. The item you linked to is the old version 7325 while the new updated version is 7326. If you could find the 7326 for somewhere close to $358, that would be a good deal.

That said, I also recently bought the new OTC Hub Grappler too. I haven't used it yet but I have one.

The Ken Tool Hub Shark works great. No complaints. It is made domestically for what that is worth to you
