I have a set of Craftsman hex sockets I picked up years ago. I hate them and haven't used them in a long time. The bits are held in with clips and they aren't very strong. So many times when I try to remove the tool, it pulls the bit out! Very, very annoying. I bought a set of Snap On, which are pinned in place, and have not looked back once.

The new Craftsman sockets are pressed in and do not move.

I picked up both the SAE & Metric Set at Sears today for $14.99/ea.

Not at all what I went there for, but hey.

Yea, it was a pleasant surprise when I went to buy these the other day.

What wasn't pleasant was when I got home, I found out that the set was missing the 1/4" bit (had 2 - 7/32" instead).

Probably a unique problem, but check your bits before anyone decides to buy.

Steve S, I have SK like that. I also have a set of kobalts which are identical to the ones from sears, and they have held up pretty well, especially for what I paid. I havent has as much of a problem with my clip sockets as you, but I too dislike the design
