I got one coming. I went today and got 10-2 wire and a 30 amp breaker ,Is there any reason why I could not use a 30 amp dryer wall plug and the wire with plug from a dryer ?? to hook it up with ?

You don't need a plug. They are meant to be hard-wired, not portable. Home Depot sells a 10-2 whip for about $10. Connect the whip to a box at one end and the heater at the other, and run your 10-2 from the box back to the panel. I have 2 of them, wired that way.

YES, I have BOTH my G73 heaters running on a 3 wire dryer cord from Home Depot. They work perfect IF you are wanting to use them. You may also hard wire them, but there are a lot of us on here that have them plugged in and don't like to hard wire. Totally up to a person based on what they want to do. A lot of people hard wire them too.

Here is one of my units plugged in with the 3 wire dryer cord.

Would there be any problem running the G73 with an extension cord? I saw the 10-2, or 10-3 heavy extension cords at menards for around 50 bucks. Where I have my G73 mounted it's hard wired into the box, but I don't like the location. I need it over about 20 feet from where I have a 220 outlet. I figure the cost of buying the cord and simply moving it myself would be alot cheaper than having the electrician come over again and hard wire it to where I want it.

What cord would I need? 10-2 or 10-3? (I'm no electrician by any means) And again, would it be safe? I don't keep the heater on all day eveyday, only when I'm out there and thats limited to 1 or 2 days a week.

Thanks

Sixball I have my 3VU36 running off my welder extension cord . Mind you it is a 8/2 WG cord made from SO wire . My cord is over 50' long so I can put the 3VU36 pretty much anywhere in my 450SF garage I wish to put it .

i am planning on incorporating on of these units into my new garage build.
Im going to do some more framing tomorrow and hope ot start the electrical end in the next few weeks.

Id love to hear your experiences with this unit pros cons and if it was a killer on the electric bill. My garage is 500 sq ft with 8'-6" ceilings

Tstang Buc did a writeup on his experiance with his G73 and his power bill . I added my experiance with my 3VU36 to his thread . My bill went up $1.00 with the 3VU36 running 24/7 in my garage average outside temp below 30* average inside temp 65* heater set on medium and cycling not running constant . This differance is from running a 110Volt space heater in the garage running constantly and only heating the area right where I was at instead of heating the whole garage . I have 2 thermometers in my garage one on each end and both read 65-70*.

Thanks ill do a search for that thread.
Doesnt sound like a hog then at all. I dont plan on heating my shop unless Im working out there so itll be running only those times never every day all day long. i Have a nice 50-200k btu propane heater but between leaving the window/ door open a crack noise and fumes i think the electric heater will be a nice addition. And ill use the propane one as a back up or possible the initial pre heat.

Thanks Rick,

Any leads on where to get the cord? I just got back from Menards and stopped in the extension cord asile and all I could find was 10-3 and 10-4 today. I think a 25 footer would work for me.

Thanks

Sixball you will most likely have to make your own mine is home made . Ask for SO cord in the electrical department where the wall of wire is :D.
