G73 won't heat past 50F ?? T-stat Fried!!!

On Edit: T-stat was fried. See pics below.

Hi All,

Love my G73 Dayton heater but for some reason today when the room temp gets to 50f the heater cycles on and off about every 3 minutes. The dial is turned up to hi. I have had this heater for about 1.5 years. No issues. What gives?

Does it shut all the way down or is the fan still running?

It does a complete shut down and then fires up again. Thanks.

I'd think about a bad thermostat or a defective hi limit switch. Wiring diagram is on Page 5

Thanks. The T-stat is toast. Looks like I will be doing the remote T-stat mod

So here is why my heater stopped working

Checkout the burnt wire

I barely touched it and it broke off

If you own a G73 .... check your wires and strongly consider replacing the factory t-stat with a remote t-stat. The factory one is junk!

Funny! I had the same thing happen to my heater in the basement machine shop. In my case it totally destroyed the thermostat, and I did end up using an external one to fix mine too.
