The house we are about to close on has a 31 x 30 metal building. I am going to put a gable exhaust fan in, as well as a vent at the other end.
Which end to put the gable exhaust fan?
Facts:
In SW FL. Hot/humid summers (but no snow)
Building gables are on East and West ends
West end has a peaked roof about 12' long
East end is in the shade in PM (Hottest part of day)
West end gable is shaded 24/7, but area under roof, must get hot in PM
Not sure if I would want to **** in the hot air under the roof.
I think my vote goes for the gable under the roof.
What say?
Here's a pic. Sorry, couldn't make it bigger. Wish I could make the barn bigger!

Having grown up in SW Florida, I'm gonna say it probably doesn't matter. If you pull air from under the shed end, you'll pull cool air under the shed to replace it. If you blow air under the shed end, you'll blow shop-warmed air up under there. But I dont' think it matters much...

If either end has occupied space under it like where your wife parks of worse you park don't put it there. Amazing what gets sucked out of the shop over time and falls back to the ground.

I'm here in SW Florida also. Being I'm inland, there's not really a prevailing wind around here. I have a fan that hangs just at the bottom of my truss, have 8' X 8' roll up doors on each end, fan is at he west end, which is generally shaded by an oak tree. The fan blows in across the shop and helps with the slightly cooler air.

But, like others mentioned,it really don't matter. This time of year it is just brutal with the humidity.

I installed ridge vents when I reshingled, it made more difference than anything else.

Welcome to the area.
