Gable exhaust fan

I can't decide weather to go with the gable vent fan in my new 24x28. If I go with the gable mounted exhuast fan it will be in the rear over a 5' deep loft for storage. My concern is that it will draw dust that will settle on whatever I have stored on the loft. I would like some nice ventilation so if i'm working in there with the doors closed I won't get choked out from dust and fumes. Any thoughts?

was thinking of Dayton 1HLA4. I tried to look up and see what kind of cfm I need but I'm having a hard time. I am not going to have an attic. Garage is gonna be 24x28 with a 6 pitch roof. Can't figure out the volume inside. I'm just guessing but this fan seems to be plenty. Can you guys give me some more info?

I think a true gable fan is just for venting the attic. You will want an opposing vent to allow air in one end and the fan blowing out the vent on the other end. Just removing the hot air will drop the temp inside. You might want a whole-house fan that pulls in from below and blows out the vents above. Either way, you want plenty of vents to flow. I'm not sure how you can avoid the sudt situation.

I put a Hope Depot gable fan in mine. It's not terribly efficient, though, as it has to blow through the bug screen, and that provides enough resistance that some of the air comes back around the blades. I just open a window on the other end of the garage for makeup air.
