So I've read a few posts that people mention gable fans. I have a 30x40 building. It's pretty hot at first but after a bit my window ACs get it comfortable to work in. It really needs some ventilation in it. Would you put a fan on one side or both sides of the building?

I would do one up high on both gable ends, considering your building layout.

Your open door(s) will be your intake.

Best bet - Global Industrial.com , J&B fans made in WS. Marc

I'm almost finished with my mezzanine. It's pretty toasty up top. 41ace47b9a868166f8c68ff40196d5a0.jpg96927f978ca70c8dd4242fe18417e34b.jpg

So, you did not mean exhaust fan to pull in cooler air? Marc
I was wondering tje same thing. If one of those gable fans are reversable via a switch to pull air in if needed. I'm thinking the combination of both of them with ceiling fans would keep it cooled down so the air conditioners aren't working so hard

I would go with an openable skylight....

I have one in my garage....Free sunlight....and the hot air goes out of it.

Without AC -- an exhaust fan to take heat off the ceiling will lower temps if the outside temps are lower.

My concern with exhaust fans is that all leak -- need to cover them in the winter

One Gable fan would be sufficient. I would also include a self closing damper on an intake vent on the opposite end. With you gable fan control by a thermostat, this would for a hands free operation.

Although I'm familiar with those there's no way I'm spending that much. I'm planning on getting a few of these 70 inchers for about a $100 a pop

I couldn't afford them either. That's why I installed a pair of 56" fans from a local specialty store.

60", 4 speed, reversible ceiling fan...$50 at Home Depot.
I've had 4 for 10 years without a problem, they are really good.
