Hello everyone.
My name is Mando and just retired from my regular job and have decided to build my own single car garage. Two things that I have always enjoyed doing besides my trade was auto mechanics and carpentry.Thats why I decided to tackle the job myself, especially since I have the time now.
This is what I have. First of all,I am in Arizona in case some of you are in my neighborhood. My garage is 14x24. Yesterday,I put up all my Prefab trusses.
They have a 4/12 pitch.I will be having a 16" overhang at the eves.
This is my question? How do I add a overhang at both gable end trusses so that I have weather protection all the way around, eves and rakes.
Also,As it is right now with my roof being 14x24,I can set all the plywood to fall into my 24" OC trusses. In other words,I would not have to do too much cutting other than the half sheets of plywood to stagger them.
If I add,say another 16" to the gable ends, isn't that going to throw off my full/half sheets of plywood. Here is where I am lost.
Keep in mind that I am not a carpenter by any means other than a DIY guy.
I like challenges and this is one of them.Sorry for the long post.
Nice to meet one and all of you here and Thanks for your help.
