Yes it is... There is electroplated galvanization, and there is hot-dip galvanization but both are zinc plating. Electroplated is thinner, hot-dip is very heavy, thick and rough, but it is zinc in either case.
its zinc in either case but zinc coating is done with electric current and not nearly as protective. galvanizing is hot dipped. yes they are both zinc but they are two different processes.
Try Tractor Supply Co... Or maybe a Sears Hardware if you have one... They seem to have a much better selection of nuts & bolts and related than most of the big box stores...
Otherwise you will probably have to order online...
two different processes with very different results. Keep in mind you will need to buy galvanised nuts to go with it. On galv nuts the threads are chased out slightly larger to allow for the fact that the threads on the rod or bolt are also now slightly larger.
Yea they are the same NOT. If you want to replace the hardware in a couple years go ahead and get zinc plated. If you want to leave it and forget about it forever get hot dipped galvanized.
See if you can find a building supply that carries Simpson hardware. Just about any town has one...that is where all the contractors go for all the specialized stuff. The will carry it.
