Hi anyone know of a way to clean galvanized metal I have a old lawndry tub cooler project im working on

Might try CLR and a scotch brite pad, we use that to clean rust from automotive bodies without removing paint.

CLR is acid and not recommended for since (galvanized). The fumes are dangerous and it will remove the surface.
I would stick with something generic like Simple Green. If you use scotch brite use an old one that is not going to scratch to much.

Back a few years ago I had to clean up an. Old walk in cooler that had developed white rust all over it. And what we used was past hand cleaner like Go Jo, use it like paste wax.
Honestly it's been 25 years ago so I don't quite remember the out come. But it's worth a try in a small inconvicuous area.do not use the type with pumis or grit.

Anything with a little acid in it should have some effect, try white vinegar first then move to something more aggressive if necessary. Use a soap based rinse to neutralize the acid, then rinse with clean water and dry. Any white powder or discoloration is a result of exposure to moisture and water, causing the metal to oxidize.
