I am about to get a metal pegboard but want to know if I should go with galvanized or powdercoated. Is the galvinized going to stay silver and not turn grey over the years? Looking at my water heater vent pipe it does not look too bad.

What about a coat of wax or film of oil over the galvinized surface.. Maybe a coat of clear spray paint.

What turns the galvinizing grey over time?

Powdercoated is good looking day one but I think the coating in the holes may crack one day.

I also need to make a cut and tack on a trim around the pegboard for an electrical outlet so I with galvinized that is easy to accomplish.

mmmmm...brushed aluminum
that would look much better than the galv IMHO

the galv will dull in time and I am not sure there is anything you could do to stop it that would not require your attension on a regular basis
