Garage looks great! I agree taking out those pear trees might help further your curb appeal.

House HVAC

Well, my central air unit stopped working properly last year and since this project was starting, I decided to put off servicing it. Nearly a year later, I decided I was better off getting the old out and replacing them with newer more efficient model's. Even got a great price.

Old furnace and central air coming out:

New units getting installed and moving the furnace to the basement:

Now I have another project that'll distract me, getting the old furnace spot to look like a closet:

After finally getting the inspection finished and getting the new HVAC installed, I was pretty burnt out on working on the garage. Decided to do some wheelin the past couple months.

Rocks and Valleys in Michigan:

Stillwell, OH:

Silver Lake Sand Dunes:

Picked up a set of snowfighter 60's. Front is what I was after, still looking for a disc brake 14B:

Built an axle cart:

After starting to get some use out of the garage, I am very happy with the layout. The jeep on the trailer fitting in the garage and being drive through makes the hobby incredibly better. However, not having any tool storage is terrible. Before any more major projects, tool cabinets and a steel work bench for fabrication are a top priority to accomplish.

Your Jeep is relevant to my interests....to keep it on topic, far right near the garage slab

I made it to Harbor Freight before work today and picked up three of the four 56" US General tool cabinets that I was after. I'll have to hit the other store for the last. I found the coupon to get the bottom box for $699 in the hot deals thread. Literally using this forum saved me $200. GJ ROCKS!

Hopefully messes like I have going on here can be I thing of the past. I can't stand this in a brand new garage.

kswerks, that's a nice JK and wow, your going to have a lot of parking spots to fill!

It's just my daily. You got a nice looking rig there.

That's real nice, looks like a 2013. I mentioned to my wife the idea of getting rid of ours and getting a new unlimited to build, but she's completely against it. Solely because she says I'll just destroy the body and make the whole change pointless.

Picked up the last box at the harbor freight farther from my house, but close to my work. The package was broke open and they gave me another 20% off the $449 on a perfectly fine box. It was a tight fit getting it in my go to work Jeep Cherokee:

Tomorrow I'll get started on organization.

I have the boxes temporarily positioned so I can access every outlet. The only I don't like is they stick out way into the area where I park my truck. I am thinking about pushing them into the center but it will cover up one outlet, not really a big deal.

Been putting in way too many hours labeling drawers and cleaning tools:

Picked up some steel rectangular tubing from a buddy to build work benches, basically building them very similar to the axle cart, but more than 8 inches off the ground:

Also, buddy talked me into hitting the junkyard. Found a 1999 E350 D60. Had to ****** it up:

Starting of work benches

Cut up all that steel:

Working on welding the first bench together:

Pulled tape, diagonals measure 76"~76.062", I would have been happy with 3/16" out of square:

Hopefully, I get the first bench done and mounted by the end of next weekend, then onto the second.

Please tell me you're not using chlorinated brake cleaner as weld prep?
I know it sounds naggy, but that **** will kill you.

Is that tubing galvanized?

Yeah, I picked it up dirt cheap at $10/random. I don't mind wearing a respirator and wire wheeling the weld zones for that price. I would have preferred hot rolled rectangular tube that was stored indoors, but it was $10/foot.

Absolutely not. Just wire wheel as prep. The cleaner was in a bin of tools that I was cleaning and sorting. I haven't decided on a good place to store cans yet. Looking at this online, it was prolly foolish of me not to have it in a safer area. I'll take care of that when I get back to working on it.

As long as you know, just a double check for safety.

All the welding is complete top and bottom except for the feet. The table is positioned on the wall and lined up. Should be able to get the feet welded on tomorrow and get it painted this weekend.

Been working on the second bench. The frame is all welded up and the feet are on. Just need to put down the table top and paint.

Also, took a night pic last friday:

I'm diggin those benches! Nice shop too!

Thanks!

I'll be doing a little more welding to this bench. Adding some 1/4" plate on the bench vise side to handle some hammering. The top of this table and the other one is 11 gauge.

Also started wire wheeling the bench vise, still got to tear it apart but I wanted to start cleaning it up. There is not a single square inch of this thing that doesn't have a hammer or grinder mark. At least i'll have no regrets about beating it to death after it's mounted up.

Are you planning on putting an entire Kenworth on that work bench?

I think that is not a problem :bounce:

LOL, no kenworth, just jeep parts.

Got the bench looking good, just giving the paint time to dry a little more:

Been cleaning up the bench vise. May have came from the railroad as it has been welded down for use at some point in time and a tag has been put on it:

I've cleaned it up without pulling it completely apart. Since it's in full working order, I think i'll just coat it with something like corrosion X and mount it:

My progress has slowed down due to wheelin a couple weekends ago, got a little hairy out there and at the end of the trip I destroyed the 9 inch rear:

Anyways, finally have the workbench positioned on the wall:

Couldn't find any corrosion x locally (didn't look hard), so I got some fluid film to soak the vise down with (FF is on the vise in the pic). Also layered some anti-seize on the screw for the vise. Hopefully, this bad boy is mounted tomorrow:

Vise is mounted and all the excess fluid film has been wiped off. I cranks in and out very smooth. I used 5/8" allan bolts to mount the vise for a little cleaner look.

I got a hose and reel in trade, still have to clean it and mount it up, but it seems to be in good condition:

Also got my hands on something to put those dana 60's in, a 2005 LJ:

Not sure if it'll be this fall or not, but my yellow jeep will likely be sacrificed for parts. I've been wanted to build an LJ and now with a garage it's gonna happen.

I got an ugly old press today on a trade. Plans are to clean it up, paint it, cut steel blocking for the table, and put it in the corner for pressing bearing and bushings.

clean LJ.

Yeah. Now start hacking it up!

Thanks for the compliments on the LJ. The build will start before too long. Have to decide between GL4x4 or PBB for that. Back to the garage; I got the air hose mounted. I'm going to use a short hose to go between the compressor and the tank with a fitting, because I do plan on putting in a larger compressor. Also, the reel is positioned to reach every corner with ease, but still be out of the way:

I really like all the projects you are doing!!!

The Vice fits perfectly with the notch in the bench! I also like the Allen bolts, nice touch for sure! darn that Jeep is clean for a 05!!!

I am going to turn my 05 GMC truck into an off road rig in a few years when I buy a newer truck... I wish I had your tools and know how to do a solid axle swap.
