I am in the planning stages of adding a 24 foot addition to the back end of my existing detached 26x40x12 garage. Basically this as far as I can go due to the property line. Some questions I have:

1. Since when finished it will be so long and narrow, what is the best heat source? It will be well insulated in upstate NY. As it's an addition to an existing concrete floor, I do not want to go with in floor.

2. For lighting - I am thinking 3 rows of T8 bulbs, the length of the garage... But on the north end will have a large overhead door (24x11) and am concerned about covering the lights when the door is up (summer). What are the best options?

Thanks

I recently added a new bay on the side of my existing free standing 32x28. So now the finished size if 52x28 (with an 8 ft extra length on the new 20 ft wide section. I have forced air oil furnace in the old part, I am likely going with a propane ceiling hung unit. for the new bay. In my case, there is only a 36 inch wide man door connecting the new and old bays.
