I saw this the other day at Harbor Freight and wondered if anyone had any experience with it or thoughts on the components for use in a home shop.

The price in the store was around $80

I saw that too....it looks alot like the Rapid Air system I installed. While I can't comment on the HF version...I am well pleased with the Rapid Air. It's almost uncanny how much the two look alike with only some minor changes like the color of the bleed handle.

I like this. Now I need to go to Harbor Freight.
Gee, I wonder if I will get dinged for buying something there?

i was wondering as well. I first saw the rapid air in the northern catalog, then the HF one. With this you could snake it in the wall!...

any input would be great.

First - that's a great price! Eastwood sells the same kit with a few plastic clips for the air lines for $199, I think. I paid around $150 for the same kit. :lol_hitti

I also bought a 100' of additional line and extra fittings directly from http://www.rapidairproducts.com/index.asp, as my compressor is in the basement of the house, and routed the air line through an underground conduit to the shop.

Everything goes together easily, and doesn't leak any air. I installed the setup during this past winter. The tubing is *very stiff*. They suggest uncoiling it to relax the material. I left it in the warm basement for a week and it didn't make much of a difference. So, to cut it with the included tubing cutter, I warmed up the tubing with a heat gun for a few moments - and that worked like a champ -the stuff cuts like butter. Uncoiling might work during the summer, but in below freezing temperatures, forget it.

It is helpful to have another pair of hands to uncoil the tubing while you affix it to the walls or ceiling - else it's a bit of a pain.

You will need .5" black plastic wire loom clips from the hardware or electronic store to secure the tubing to the wall, studs, or whatever.

The folks at Rapid Air are very friendly and exceptionally helpful. I am pleased with the product.

I agree wholeheartedly. We recently installed the airnet system here at the plant. The folks at Rapid Air are top notch. The stuff is super easy to work with as well.

We had 2 local quotes for the install (galv pipe), one for ~$12,000 and the other quote for ~$10,000 for what we wanted to do here. We got all the parts we needed for ~$7k and then our in-house labor to install it. We also got the flexibility to change the system around if we need to fairly easily...well, much easier than changing threaded pipe.
