Garage Already Built, How to Turn on Additional Lighting??

I have a 20' x 20' x 8' garage. Unfortunately, I have one 60-watt light bulb (plus the light from the garage door opener when the garage door opener button is pushed). Obviously, this is not enough light. After reading through a ton of threads here, I am looking at adding 4 or maybe 6 of the 4 bulb, 4' flourescent lights. Something like this maybe:

How would I go about connecting the wiring, so they would all come on when the light switch is flipped?

How are all you guys doing it? (besides having sense enough to have it done right the first time) It is a two-story house, with an insulated ceiling. The ceiling is drywall that has been taped and mudded, but not painted. Do I need to disconnect the wiring from the 60-watt light bulb, then cut up the ceiling and run wire to the first fixture, then run wire from the first to the second, from the 2nd to the 3rd and so on? Can the lights be daisy chained (parallel wired??) like that?

Thanks for any advice you all might have.

Unless you are concerned about the looks, I would just run surface mounted wiring channels. Easy to do, easy to modify in the future if you find the need.

Yes, the lights can be "daisy chained" You are probably seeing less than 2 amps per unit. I just finished daisy chaining shop lights so that switching on the forst one also turns on the second in the pair. Just use good wiring practice, and be sure to protect wiring from sharp metal edges where the cable leaves the fixture(s).

Thanks for the responses.

brwbier, is there a brand name of "surface mounted wiring channel"??

Right now, I am not sure what all is on that circuit. I guess I need to start testing to see what all is on it. I don't want to buy more lights than it will run.

Easiest is to mount one light over the existing switch wiring and pipe the rest in surface mount across the ceiling. EMT or Wiremold are a couple of options. Paint to match.

If I went that route, I was thinking to just unhook the 60-watt bulb fixture, then do something with that wire.

I will check on those name brands.

How would it have been wired, if from the start it had been wired for 4 or 6 light fixtures? Would they drill a hole in the 2 x 4's and run the wire through the holes, then turn toward the fixtures? The drywall is not too sacred to be cut up if need be.
