Is anyone using any cool Apps in their shops to calculate, shop, fabricate, fix, or build anything? I just got a tablet and I'm curious about what you guys might be using.

measurement conversion apps, notepad for storing dimensions, i also use one for obd codes if you ever have a need for that.
then photo related apps, to take cool pictures with weird affects because thats just the done thing to be in with the kids.

You didn't specify Android, Windows, or iOS, nor what kind of work you will be doing. Here are a couple Android apps I use:
Garage Buddy - All kinds of conversions, etc. Mostly car related.
Carango - Not necessarily garage, but keep track of vehicle maintenance, gas mileage, etc.

I tried GarageBuddy about a week ago and deleted it, even though it had some decent conversions and charts.
Whenever I launched it, it would try to get a GPS lock, and continue trying even after I exited out. I had to Force Stop Garage Buddy (it keeps running in the background) via the app manager to get it to stop trying to get my location in the background. There is no setting to tell it you don't want it to track your location (no settings menu at all actually). The only option would be to turn off GPS and location services on the entire phone, and I don't want to do that as I use the location services for certain apps that I like, and give in-app permission to use my location.
This is either a huge bug, or more likely data mining to sell to a third party IMO (why does an app for conversions and charts need to know my location in the first place?)

I have thought of getting an Ipod, everything I like about the phone but no phone. Likely the opposite of many crusty foggers LMAO.
I am really liking Evernote, and Evernote Web Clipper. I have a note started for every vehicle, project, accountant, lawyer, building, ??? around. That way when you get it in the shop or ?? you don't forget to fix everything. Also shopping lists for the local town and big city trips.

Interesting that you pointed that out. I never paid any attention to it, but I just opened it, and it does exactly as you say. I agree, no reason for it to know my location. I guess it may get the axe now. Thanks for the heads up!
My tablet is a Nexus 7 but I also have an iPhone and a macbook (and a Peter Wright anvil, which I love).
I do mostly automotive stuff. I am currently doing a frame-off resto-build on a '66 bronco using a 'rebuilt 5.0 out of a '97 Ford Explorer with a matching 4r70w ******.
I do like to fab other things. Mostly stuff for around the farm. Been playing around with some blacksmithing. I have a plasma cutter, torch, Hossfeld bender with heaps of dies, a few mig welders and a tig, but I also still enjoy gas welding. I've been using bed tech software a bit on some of my tubing projects but I always gravitate back to my known methods and what I know.
I find that many apps are disappointing, especially the ones that deal with fabrication and welding. I'm not anti-tech, but it would be nice to find something that really makes a difference in the things I do.
Hence my question about what everyone else is using.
