I have an asphalt driveway and the apron when it meets the concrete garage floor has sunken in 4 inches or more is some spots. Is there and easy way to fix the sunken areas or do I need to get it cut out and have a concrete apron put in? Thanks.

I had similar problems in the past and tried simply removing the sunken asphalt and replacing it with some Redi-Mix concrete. Worked well for me but your soil may be different than mine was. Also try tapering the hole a little larger at the top in order to help the concrete from settling again in the future.

if you try to patch, it will just look bad.
i'd cut a strip of the asphalt out. go out 1foot , 2 feet, or however much you need to go. then put down concrete or pavers.

No really easy way. Cut out and compact with jumping jack to get the easy settling out of the way. Then put in what you like. Concrete asphalt or paver. It's a must to compact with jj not a plate tamper.

Thank you all for the responses. I'm not really sure why it sank to begin with. Pretty much every home in my development has the same issue. I like the idea of putting in pavers that way if it were to happen again I can just pull them up and relevel/compact and put them back in. Are there issues with using pavers that I should be aware of? Also what would I use to cut the asphalt, a concrete saw?

I have a low spot that sank due to the original developer clearing out trees and stumps in the forest, not getting all of the root structure out. The root rotted and decomposed over time and water freezing in the void every year caused cracking and sinking in my asphalt. I figure I want to run some electrical for landscape lighting in the future, so I will cut out a section across the driveway and put in a service conduit and patch the driveway after compacting with gravel.
