I am looking for suggestions or pictures of a storage building / workshop. My garage is a 2 car brick attached to the house. One side of the garage faces the garage..one side faces the street and the garage door faces the neighbor. the back side enters into the kitchen. I am just out of space so I was thinking about cutting a door in the brick and have a storage building attached in the back yard. Not sure if anyone has done this, but I have to get more room and would like the entrance through the garage so I don't have to go around to the back to go into the work shop. Would like to have a lot of work bench area and storage area above head.

Can people post comments or pictures???

By having it accessed from the garage you are talking about a permanent structure and permit required. If you make it outside access and more of a self-contained building, you might not need a permit. You might even be able to build it as lean-to style, but enclosed walls and it may meet the no permit needed rules.

Do you also need to pour concrete for the floor? No matter what check into permit requirements, that may help decide what you do.

I thought about that tool. Put all my wood working tools on wheels and just push into storage. Dont really need a storage for catch all, but a place to keep the big tools out of the way. like welders, table saw, band saw, drill press. lathe. They reallt take up alot of room. Put The compressor and sand blaster back there. the press. But whitin a week they would be fenders door hoods back there too.
