Garage Attic Insulation

I'm in the process of running some new electrical in my garage. I cut an access hole in the ceiling to allow me to run the wires. I'm adding an FUH54 heater and realized the ceiling wasn't insulated by the builder, only the area above living space is. Can I just lay insulation sheets down like they did over the living areas? I assume this needs to be done for the heating in garage to be sufficient. If I do this, I will have the ceiling and 2 shared interior walls insulted, 1 front and 1 side wall not insulated.

You definately should insulate above the ceiling. A plastic vapor retarder/barrier usually is installed on the warm side of the insulation but since the drywall is already up that'll be hard to do. Y can get by thiat problem by using a moisture barrier primer on the sheetrock ceiling. I'd also insulate the remaining two walls. If the finished walls are already up on those also, you can blow-in insulation behind the drywall/panels.

Thats exactly what I did, except on mine the builder put in about 16" of blown in over the living area. I decided to use the batts instead of blown in because its easier to get around up there, and it can be pulled out for future upgrades.
My garage is about 600 sq ft and I have a little over half done right now and can already tell a difference. Just like yours, 2 walls are not insulated.
If your gonna use the batts make sure you get the kraft faced ones. Also look into the Atticat blown in fiberglass as it will be cheaper and quicker.

Is Kraft faced the ones with paper on one side? Don't the faced insulation batts have a vapor barrier attached to it so I can literally just slide them between the studs or is this more complex? Damn builder couldn't just finish this.

I already have my attic cat blow-in insulation, just waiting to finish wiring the lights and final inspection before I blow it into the ceiling and walls.

Yes, yes and slide away, just don't fall through.

Those are not "attic trusses", which are designed to support weight on top of the bottom chord, so no, you can't put a plywood "floor" up there and store stuff.

I've 2x6's like you and added a 2x4's 1 foot above with some plywood, as I planned on blown insulation.
I used it for storing empty boxes and very light foam Halloween yard decorations.
