Garage looks great, How is the clearance with the lift and a full sized truck? I was planning on 12' walls with scissor truss. Have a 97 F250 with 6" lift so worried about it fitting. Thanks

all you need now is a KEG and a COUCH...........Bobbycoke

My buddies and I joked about this, but believe it or not Im out of room already. I did manage to put a dog bed in for the pup, hes young and skiddish so we're working on him being around new surroundings.

Love your garage! Especially the lift! Love the color theme, mind if I ask what kind is it?

Thank you, the lift is a Triton from liftsplusdepot, they delivered and installed. It was a deal I wasn't going to pass up. They even brought the extra equipment with them and set those up as well, Tripod jacks, oil tank and trans jack stand

Thanks Bud, my 08 Dodge (but its lowered 3") will just touch the light fixtures, my max ceiling height is 11.5" and the lift will reach the 2nd to last lock, if I fully extend the lift, I'll be buying a new light fixture. But even lifted at that height I can walk comfortably under the truck and Im 6'2"

So being that you have a 6" lift, you might want to consider 12' ceiling height with scissor trusses. I would have went 12' but I didn't want an eye sore of a building on the property. I'm trying to stay low key and not have the neighbors up in my business.

They do have the build of these pole barns down to a science. I really wanted to build mine , but I couldn't have done it as efficient as they did.

I'm really liking that retractable awning.

Thank for the reply. I am in the same boat with trying to blend the garage into the property without making it look too industrial. I am most likely going to do 12ft walls and just lower the roof pitch to keep the overall height down.

Great looking garage, well organized as well! Should be an absolutely great man cave for large scale custom builds! Thanks for sharing!

Change the facade, not the building size. Build as big a building as the town will allow.

Thank you, its easily becoming a new hang out for us diesel heads, Currently tearing into my Cummins for a complete engine build and body makeover.

Build as big a building as the town will allow.
True, I can add 20' to the rear of the building before I encroach the easement. But time and funds will dictate when that happens.

Well its been a few months, and I've got about 99% of my tools and truck parts moved into the new shop. Still organizing and planning many more upgrades. All in due time, next rotation's agenda includes, Formica tops for all my tool box tops and black work table. Trim out windows and install a base cove to dress the shop up. I want to add an Edsal 24"x48"x72" storage locker but space is limited due to my wood projects taking up valuable real estate. I decided I wont be installing epoxy on the floor, however it will be polished and sealed to a gloss finish.

With getting the shop organized and trying to build this truck project. I've been pretty busy, but its been nothing but fun.

Here are few pics of the equipment moved in. Hope everyone enjoys

Very very nice indeed. I signed a contract 2 weeks ago and just submitted the permit application yesterday for my pole barn. I live in VA so I'm very Interested in that lift you have. I have never heard of that brand before and the price including installation is very good. What do you think of the lift, pros/cons etc.

Jamie, the lift works flawlessly. After about lifting 10 vehicles one of the lines to the reservoir started seeping. I figured that would be expected with anything new. Tightened it up and it hasn't leaked since. Below is the link, the guys are great and quick at what they do. Zero complaints, I would definitely use them again.

Here are a few pics of the landscaping I managed to get done. My goal is to tie it into the surrounding landscaping. Looks very bland right now, but once the Canna Lily's come up, those will be a nice focal point. I want to add a walk way between the retaining wall and the juniper's. However I haven't found anything that fits my taste. I intend to use a grey flat slate stepping stone. This way the dogs aren't temped to play in the mulch and track it inside the house. So far they seem to be winning this battle. Our yellow Lab is attracted to black triple shred mulch. The dogs do stay out of the existing mulch beds, but since this is a large open area. They seem to be inclined to run and play in it.

I've considered adding another 20 feet to the end, however my plans are changing. Now Im debating a Lean-to with concrete slab

This pic was taken May of last year. This is what I'm trying to tie into and bring everything together. Still needs more color per the house commanders request.

Well its been awhile since Ive added any kind of update. During that time I got to spend a 4 week rotation home. I havnt really done too much with the shop per-say. However I did manage to get a good bit of the landscaping completed.

My elderly neighbor is a great woman has been a huge source of information when it comes to gardening and landscaping. Over the past 2 years she has significantly cleaned out her yard and mulch beds . I help her when I can and have no seconds thoughts in dropping what I'm doing to assist. Well this rotation she was removing more of her scrubs and ground cover and asked if I was interested in any of it. what perfect timing, I just wrapped up spreading 2 yds of mulch. I told her I was more than wiling to help remove everything and I also offered clean up her remaining mulch beds.

Well during the weeks I was home the temps and humidity played a toll on the fragile plants. they do look wilted and weathered however, they're very hardy and will perk up next year.

Right be every started showing up for our 4th of July get together

And here are a few pics of what was keeping me busy for those 26 days.

The first pic is of the 3 gun cabinets I'm building for some co-workers. Next rotation the upper door frames and glass will be installed. I'm really wanting to get back into the pallet wood projects, however the truck build has been eating up a huge amount of my time.

And here is the reason for the shop build, this is the pride and joy. Right now she's rated just above 800hp with a single turbo charger and a stock bottom end minus the custom cam.

Any Dodge guys will see that, the fuse panel does not mount that way. Along with a wire tuck, I'm rerouting the power steering lines. Also the ABS manifold has been relocated

Yet another newb bumping an old post...

Interested in how you lowered the pickup 3". Does it still handle weight well? Hauls weight in bed well and tows just as well?

Also interested in your thoughts on the lot layout. We're hoping to build in the next couple years and the side-entrance-front garage with the accompanying setback-front-entrance shop is a lot layout that I'm really liking on paper, how is it in person?

The walls look so smooth. How did you get OSB that smooth? It's not just primer and paint, is it?
in fact, the walls are OSB, seams are sealed with construction adhesive and slicked smooth. The 3 coats of paint help also. It was primer+paint from Lowes if that helps.

Inside of your shop looks awesome. Going to send you a message so hopefully I can pick your brain.
thank u, I sent you a reply

I did what is called a reverse level. I don't tow or haul with it anymore. This truck is strictly for race and showing. The days of it being a workhorse are gone. With that setup, I would suggest not towing or hauling excessive loads. As for the shop layout, it works for me. I would have liked for it to be widthwise and have 2 bay doors. However the adjacent property set back did not allow that as an option.

I guess you could say I fell off the wagon with this thread. Well there has been a lot improvements and projects going on over the past year. We finally got her officially closed in. Everything is trimmed out and I decided to add a man door to the rear wall. Metal Ceiling and R21 insulation created a comfortable environment during both summer and winter months. Those 2 24" fans created a nice air flow over the summer also. That torpedo(115,000btu) heater runs for 2 minutes and keeps the temp at about 65 for 6-8 hours. Ill be adding a Mini-split coming next spring. Still undecided if Im going to do anything with the floor. This shop gets used and abused, so epoxy coating isnt going to happen. I cant justify $8000 for a floor coating.

Added 14 feet of work top to build harnesses for upcoming projects. Did some bargain shopping all together the base cabinets and 2 solid core doors ran me about $160.

Also built a wall mounted storage rack for wire spools and what not.

The new shop pup (Sully) decided to join in on the fun since the shop got a thorough cleaning after the chassis prep on the drag truck.
