Hi All - I found your brilliant forum when I came across NUTTSGT's build and figured I should do the same! Mine won't be quite as awesome, but worth documenting to help inspire others.

History:
After coming from a 1 car garage in a unit complex, high on the list of 'must have' things for the new place, was a decent garage. The rest of the house came second
We found a 4 bedroom house, with a 2 and a bit car garage.
This pic is day one, the previous owner left behind a decent enough bench which was nice:

Plenty of lights, all hanging precariously and connected via extensions cords

Already filling up with junk as a result of moving into the house.

I liked this garage because there was plenty of space to the side of the car space, for taking off wheels, or parking bikes

The garage has underground power from the house, which is good, but it all terminates in one powerpoint which is awkward.

It's raining today, so time I put up some more photos.

The previous owners when building/extending this shed used a really old, barely transparent roof panels, the kind that a like a matted textured finish. They also used a panel of a different colour, so I figure it's a future project to change out the bad panels with some nice new polycarbonate clear panels.

Does anyone have any advice surrounding this? Can you use too many?

You can see even a bad one lets in a decent amount of light.

Over the last few weeks I've wired up outlets and lights. No more extension leads!
Here you can also see my enormous 'recycled' parts washer and the new waterproof power point for it.

The box lights put out a really nice, somewhat directional light. I just need another row on the other side now!

People may wonder why I have used waterproof points and switches but the clue may come from the amount of light slipping in beside the garage door.
These 'sheds' are by no means weathertight, so anything I can do to minimise electrocution by wet hands, or rain coming in.

That's about all for now. I'm going to source some more 'box' lights and hopefully do the other side, and the entire other end of the shed.

I have found skylights hot to work under, it may be worth installing an extra window.

Nice shed!
The worst thing about the transparent roof panels is they let in a LOT of heat. I always remember Canberra as freezing cold or stinking hot... so they might be worth avoiding too many of them!

Thanks Dave - yep this was my concern!
I might just try two to begin with to fix the dodgy appearance, then gauge from there.

I wonder if this is an opportunity to install some sort of thin insulation? I hear that it is very effective at cutting the heat for the steel panels (not the clear ones)

We just had solar installed on the shed roof and its amazing the temperature difference, there is only foil under the sheets, so I am seriously considering alternatives at the moment. I have put up with it for years, its time for a change even though it has A/C its not terribly efficient.

Thanks 1/2 cup. I read of your solar installation and was impressed. I would be inclined to do the same but from my limited research, our nsw/act tariffs are miserable.

I will be getting..........wait for it.............. a whole 8 cents per KWH.
However don't be disuaded for going solar as it is about helping us out with our rising energy costs, I see it as an investment in our future and am not really looking at the return.
