Howdy,
Have been lurking here for a couple years, reading and gathering info for a standalone garage. Hurricane Sally's winds and some really low mortgage rates moved my timetable forward. After some research, friends, emails and telephone calls, I decided on a 30X32 stand alone garage with 11.5 ft walls and an 8 foot lean too. When I purchased the property, it had 4 prefab sheds in different stages of disrepair. I fixed up one as a workshop, two as storage sheds and one that was unrepairable. Over the last several years, one of the storage sheds had developed a leak in the roof, which was then exacerbated by the hurricane winds and old shingles. I ordered the garage last December and began prepping the property.

First was the demolition of the leaking and unrepairable sheds.

Unknown concrete pad…lol

This was accomplished in December 2020, just after the building was ordered.

Next came the land clearing. Vines, weeds and some hurricane felled trees were removed to make room for the new building. Also some manual sledge work on the old concrete pad. I got through these steps in late January 21 and Feb 21

The weather and contractor agreed in March and we were able to get the pad poured (4K /fiber/4"w/12" footers / and two 5'X5' by 12" deep pads for a future two post lift. I also shoveled a bit a gravel for the lean-to spot…lol

Stairs complete and platform sheeted. Next is more railing around the front. Maybe wood will come down.. I can hope.

Nice! I just had a 24x36 built, similar to yours. I love my shop. Jealous you already have lights and electricity. I'm running off an extension cord from the house. Why is the mezzanine like it is? Are you putting an office or something up there with storage below?

I got lucky with a friend who is a certified master electrician. He is coming this week to finish wiring the fan and the lift. Words of wisdom.. you can never have too many outlets. Im also having him convert two of the 2 plug outlets to 4 plug.

As for why the mezzanine. Initially I didn't plan on it. However, once the building was finished, the additional space was apparent. The walls are 11.5 and I wanted to take advantage of the height. Mezzanine is 4ft at the joists. Underneath will be bulky and long term storage (engines, tires, etc.) I am putting up a couple rows of shelves on the raised section for the rest of my "stuff".

I was originally going to just keep the plain concrete floor, but, after further thought, said "If you're gonna do it, do it right and only once". I decided the Racedeck XL fit my needs very well. Ordering was quick and easy and they showed up about a week later.

Luckily my neighbor has a Deere with forks and we were able to get them to the garage in one shot.

I needed a couple more tiles to finish out the corners, as I didn't measure quite correctly. They arrived and I finished up yesterday. I now have the "Project" in and no excuses.

I installed the Racedeck by myself in about 6hrs. The final cutting and trimming took another day. Very happy with the results and with the Racedeck folks out in Utah. Highly Recommend :)

Very nice shop!

I like that floor. I googled the XLC and that would appear to be a free flow which you don't have. What are your colors?

My bad, I meant Racedeck XL. I was going to use both XL and Freeflow XLC but they are different thicknesses. The colors are Black, Royal Blue, Graphite and Alloy.
