I plan on relocating to the west-central Florida area sometime in the near future. I am looking at and considering buying a residential property in the Lakeland FL (Polk County) area, 3 acres (+/-) where I would like to build my garage out-building. I'm trying to do my homework before hand and educate myself with the local zoning ordinances and land development codes prior to purchasing anything. My worst nightmare is to buy a home property and then find out that I can't build a garage out-building on it. Can anyone recommend or refer me to a specific construction company they have used before who does business in that general area of the state (west central) and erects such steel or stick-built out-buildings?
I did reach out to the county's land development office and received some info that the out-building can be no more than 50% footprint of the house. ("impervious coverage" constraints?) And after trying to read through the county's land development code document my head hurts. So rather than randomly calling construction companies (which I can certainly do) I thought it might be a good idea to first reach out to the forum community here and see if anyone from that area might be willing to suggest a name of a company. I'm open to suggestions. (PM me if that's more appropriate. ) The prospects of one's own garage out-building are exciting, but the journey to get there seems a bit daunting.
Thanks.
Ed
