Let's see your paint schemes!

I need some repainting ideas, I'm disliking the diamond plate finish on the Gladiator cabinets more and more each day I look at them. I was thinking of just going black, but my garage is pretty dark as is, I'm not sure I want to make it darker.

I just painted some salvaged kitchen cabinets with gloss black rust oleum. I like the dark color myself.

I'm in the same boat and will be following this thread to see what others have done. I got kitchen cabs off craigslist and want to do something with them as well, ala Jack Olson, but don't have that design eye.

BTW Bearcat - those black cabinets look nice. Never would have thought that about black but it works. What are you going to do for counter tops?

I'm a big Gladiator cabinet fan and I would consider a darker gun metal grey if I had to paint the doors. The Gladiator finish is supposed to be somewhat tough but I have seen the damage bug spray has done to the finish. Hope your finish is a bit tougher against accidental over spray when dealing with flying insects in the garage.

My garage is the standard white top/gray bottom with a black line in between. I painted all my cabinets black so they blend yet stand out at the same time.

3/4 plywood with a rounded routered edge. Seal that and top with thin stainless set about a half inch back from the front edge. I may double up the plywood, or just make it look that way. If you have ever eaten at Which Wich sandwich shop, that is what their tables are topped with at least around Houston.

I don't want to hijack but have a related question.

I got some cabinets from an office that was being remodeled. They are typical pressboard/particle board with a veneer on them (like a formica kitchen counter top.

The color isn't terrible, but if I decide to color co-ordinate the shop, what would I have to do to prep this stuff for paint?

I used light grey to match the floor and not soak up too much light and blue trim to match the car.

I will snap photos of mine tomorrow. They were unfinished oak wall cabinets from Home Depot that I picked up for 40% off. I sanded them up nice and finished with a black stain. They look great and the wood grain shows which I like. I looked at adding a diamond plate or other metal insert but I like the black too much to hide it.

Following along. I'm in the process of re-modelling my garage. RaceDeck will probably be going in and will be going with a Black & Blue paint scheme. Hope it wont **** up too much light into the blue walls.

Here is another example of black but with a contrasting metal pegboard to lighten things up a bit. The second pic shows the same colors but reversed. Which do most of you prefer?
