Finally into my new home and new garage, so im needing to put some cabinets together. I havent done any cabinet making before so im a bit ignorant to standard sizes for things. Does anybody have any plans or cut lists for standard size garage cabinets? Tall wall, short workbench type and overhead storage, etc?

I dont want to end up having to do things twice due to poor planning.

Are these upper cabinets with doors and shelves or lower cabinets with drawers. The great thing about making your own is that you can customize the size. You do, however, want to make sure you waste as little material as possible, so sizes that come close to being divisible by 96 or 48 work best. I do not like my current cabinets with drawers. They are wide and deep enough, but many are too high and I find a lot of air space above the tools, which is a waste. I plan to re-do them.

I found that old kitchen cabinets are easy to find, often with good faces and doors as well as junk boxes. I take the old faces off, build my own boxes to whatever depth I want and use the old faces/doors, sometimes reuse drawers also. Cheap way to get garage storage.
I like to mount cabinets and shelves high, leaving space on sides available for working, and I find the usual 12 deep upper cabinets too shallow, so I build my own at 16 inches deep.
