Garage Cabinets: Gladiator vs. Edsal?

I've been browsing the site for a few weeks now and finally get to make my first post.

I'm working on a garage remodel which I hope to post up here within the next week or so.

I'm doing some looking for cabinets and a workbench. I'm looking for the basics for now as I'm only beginning my DIY/Home workshop career.

I've been looking at the Gladiator products which everybody seems to be really happy with. Sears looks like they've got the best deals for the welded, higher quality cabinets.

I found a nice looking four piece cabinet/workbench set at Home Depot made by a company called Edsal (http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053).

I've never heard of them and can't seem to find any reviews online. This set looks like its got slightly higher weight loads on its shelves and overall looks like it's a little higher quality.

Does anybody have experience with them or have recommendations for sturdy cabinets and a decent workbench for use with general household work and small woodworking projects?

Thanks for all the help!

You can buy the Edsal cabinets from Graingers for a few dollars less than Home Depot:

Edsal makes lots of industrial cabinets and workbenches, from light weight ones like these all the way to heavy welded units that are just like StrongHold cabinets.

These are $10 less than Edsals:

I think you can get the Gladiator welded ones several times a year on sale at Sears for $100 apiece.

I got my 30" wall boxes for $99 each from Sears. You can get thier website to alert oyou of price drops via email and then be ready to pounce. You may also be able to use some coupon codes at that time.

i second this. i waited for the welded wall boxes go on sale for around 70-80 bucks and bought 6 of them. i had one of the bolt together ones and it was much weaker then the welded. i took it right back once i saw the nice welded ones.

Edsal makes high quality cabinets. I have them available in my store, and the Pro-Maxx cabinets are basically the ones you're looking for. I sell them as a full 8-piece kit or as individual pieces depending on what your garage layout allows. Give me a call if you need assistance with layout. Cheers!
