Howdy all! I have been lurking around here for quite some time now and would like to try and tackle updating/organizing my garage.

I would very much appreciate any and all feedback and pictures regarding the garage cabinetry you all are using.

Pros, cons etc ...

Thanks and have a great day!

We have wood composite cabinets from Lowes, bought them back in 2007.

We moved in 2015 and brought them with us for our barn. They are very durable.

I have a bunch of reclaimed cabinets. They are all on casters. They roll wherever you need them and are easily moved for cleaning. best thing I ever did. A couple are trash picked. A couple bought at a yard sale and one was dropped when unloading.

Even the cheap craftsman roller cabinets can be turned into mobile work stations.
I made a partitioned 2 x 6 top for this one. Sized for those clear plastic shoe boxes. Lots of miscellaneous storage room.

Painted to match you would be hard pressed to think it didn't come with the cabinet.

All of the cabinets have outlets and extension cords also.

Not a great pic but these are my Newage cabinets, only had them for a year but they've made organization much easier.

I picked these up from an auction house cheap. They came out of a university.

if you live anywhere near a college, check to see if they have a surplus store, I wish I lived closer to where I went to school because they always had well built industrial cabinets for almost nothing you could pick up a solid wood 8' lower cabinet for $50 or so

Still in progress. The shelves and bench will get faced and get cabinet doors. Can make it very srurdy. And works well with a budget. Make it useful first then you can make it pretty as funds allow.

These ikea cabinets actually work really well and are very sturdy. Check out the link in my signature for more details.

Old bedroom wardrobes
Reinforced with 1 x 2 inch timber

That is the story of my solutions... I buy cheap *** cabinets and do exactly what you did... sometimes I frame it out on the inside instead... so the original keeps it's original "look".

I follow exactly what you do because I am cheap... and somewhat lazy... I could certainly build a cabinet from scratch... it's just easier.

I like to use metal wall cabinets. My workbenches are metal frame with butcher block tops. They are gladiator.

Filing cabinets and old office cabinets are pretty common. I got all mine from local auctions, Public Surplus Auctions, and CL. They normally come in lots from schools selling old equipment. Most are good quality. I've averaged about $20 per cabinet.

They don't all match, but for the price, I'm more than satisfied.

Old crappy cell phone picture of closet maid HD sourced closets. I beefed up and added shelves and they have done me good for many years.
