Can anyone identify these cabinets? There are 7 total and he says they are aluminum. They look old and I'm hoping they are made in the USA. He wants 200 bucks OBO. He mentions they need new paint lol. I will call him tomorrow to find out if they are dented up or don't slide well. If not I may pull the trigger.

Anything I should ask other than the obvious (dimensions, cracks, manufacturer, age) over the phone. What I really want to hear is that these are some vintage cabinets that will hold up.

I'm buying a new house with my wife that has a garage. I won't be pulling engines but will use it for general purpose stuff. I need storage for my tons of tools (belt sanders, welder, tiling stuff, etc etc etc). Also I salvaged a hard maple counter top (heavy) that I want to mount a Wilton vise to. Not sure if aluminum would fit the bill.

I think what you're looking at are metal cabinets made originally for offices. Companies such as Steelcase and others made these for office environments in the 60's and 70's. I have one that resembles the yellow one that I purchased from a school system here in Denver for $20.00. It has casters and was used to roll around the overhead projector. I took mine and repainted it and it works great.

I think these cabinets are a great way to go if they fit your needs. They can be of better quality then new cabinets (e.g. Galdiator, Coleman) at a fraction of the price.

Good luck.

They'd probably make great cabinets for the garage. Yet, I wouldn't pay that much for them, especially considering that they need sanded down and painted.
