Garage Cabinets

Looking at changing up my garage with more enclosed storage and looking for some taller (72in maybe) garage cabinets I can hang on the wall because my ceilings in my 22x22 are 12' tall and I want to elevate pretty high so my compressor etc fit under. I've seen the gladiator stuff before and they make the exact size i'm really looking for but I've had beer cans that were tougher construction and they are pretty $$$

Look into NewAge cabinets. The quality is excellent, and the price is pretty close to Gladiator. You can buy them direct from the manufacturer.

I went with new age cabinets pro series when they were on clearance for $100 a piece. Quality seems very nice and i have no complaints.

The Gladiator cabinets at Lowes are ready-to-assembly and the similar models at Sears are welded and a bit sturdier. I believe that holds true for the taller cabinets as well but I'm not completely sure. So if you looked at a particular Gladiator cabinet at Lowes it's worth checking the same model at Sears and seeing if it seems sturdier.

The tall Seville cabinet at Sam's Club is cheaper than the tall Gladiator cabinet and a bit bigger as well.

Yeah I might not to the cabinets on the shorter wall and have one down low for chemicals. I will be adding overhead racks over the garage door so I can store the bulky stuff there.

I think he meant that the top shelves of those cabinets in your sketchup are going to be 8+ feet in the air and you won't be able to reach anything on them. Might as well go with shorter cabinets and store infrequently used items on top of them.

I have three of them for over six months. I'm very satisfied. Very easy to assemble. The hardware included is above average. I wished the doors were a little sturdier, but for the money, I think it's the best deal out there.

Hey fellow crawler! Looks like you have some nice space. My garage is only about 10' tall,but maximizing that last couple feet has been a challenge too. I can only imagine (dream) about 12'.

Innovative concept, but I have to agree with some of the other posts on the potential lack of practicality. Also, I would be concerned about a "floor" cabinet deforming if hung just off the back panel. Plus could the studs even handle the weight of all those cabinets loaded up?

If it were my garage, I would track down some 24" deep pallet racking components and line the "storage" walls with those. Keep the bottom 6ish ft. open for workspace and install shelves spaced for storage totes above that. Add a couple of those floor cabinets on the floor for high use items.

Yup I bought the same ones and although they took awhile to show up they are great.

Like the sketchup. I've always had a hard time with that program. NewAge has a design tool that has some of their cabinets. You can move things around and get an overview of your garage. Follow this link to the design software.

I did the NewAge Pro cabinets when I redid my garage a few years ago. I have ben very happy with them and they have held up well.

the way I see it: overhead cabinets are for infrequent use items. Store frequently used items in floor cabinets.
I'm not ashamed to use a small step ladder to access the upper shelves. I usually hop up on the base cabinets
