I have been reading on and off about this for 2 days. Is there a definitive answer to use faced or unfaced insulation on the ceiling (above drywall)?

Basic 2.5 car garage, soffit vents and ridge vent to be installed at same time. Climate is Wisconsin, with a natural gas heater vented externally of course.

There must be a simple let it breath or seal it up at least some with faced insulation answer.

Wisconsin probably requires a true vapor barrier; recommended in zones 7&8, usually. I would not touch fiberglass if you gave it to me; it is PP insulation and it gets into your body when you install it. Blow in cellulose and use a true vapor barrier. You might get by with cellulose and the airtight drywall approach, too; see a local code freak for that one, and ask what the permeance of a ceiling has to be in your area.
