garage ceiling fan wiring question

Garage is coming along. Drywall Saturday morning.

Think I might have stumbled upon an oversight for my ceiling fan wiring. I have 3 wires run to to the ceiling fan box (black, red, white + ground). I want to be able to reverse direction from switch as well as adjust speed.

When I look at the wiring diagram for a Canard control switch it shows I also need a fourth/blue wire. Is this specific to the Canard switch, or did I screw up and need to run another wire ASAP?

Ceiling is 15 ft so I will have to get contractor back out tomorrow as I don't have a ladder that can safely get up there.

Those look like the fans I got from Northern Tool. Do you have the controller like the one pictured below the fan? I had to have the extra wire.

Yes, the fan & controller is available at Northern Tool and a few other online sellers.

EDIT: I didn't buy anything yet, but you're right, the wiring diagram shows TWO additional wires (BLUE & YELLOW).

That is what I have. I like being able to reverse and change speeds on them.

I got my Canarm 56" fans from Ebay and saved a ton of money. They are wired with the reversible speed controller mentioned above and work great.
