Hello All, frequent visitor to the site and want to put out a challenge. I recently started to pull down the ceiling which consisted of 5/8 fire board in my 2 car residential garage that has a room above. This past weekend made some fire boxes for the recessed cans I plan to install. I am going with 5000K LEDs as I need the light. I plan to replace 5/8 x-code fire board drywall on the ceiling as a base and per code in my state. I am looking for a finish covering for the ceiling and have spied several ideas from metal, to cork and vinyl soffit. I was originally thinking of a peel and stick vinyl tile.

So here is the challenge: The most cost effective, easily installed and maintained finish for the ceiling. Default will be just to tape, mud, and paint.

Paint. One of the shinier satins. That way **** wipes off. Buy a 5 gallon pail of your chosen color, you'll have plenty of touch up material left over. Drywall is really nice, when you need to move fixtures. You can easily patch it and touch up.
